    Notes:

    Robert Rowland Hill enlisted with the fighting forces of the Confederacy in the fall of 1863, became a member of Company B, Mett's Battalion, and was stationed at Camp Vance for a few months.  After his company was disbanded in Raleigh, he, in company with some of the other boys, joined the Navy at Charleston under Captain Ray.  From there they were sent to Virginia.  He was captured by the Yankees April 6th, 1865; received parole June 27th, and reached home July 4th 1865.

    When he was unable to take care of his farm in late years they moved to Stony Point, NC.  He was an Elder in the Clio Presbyterian church.
