Notes:

Samuel Wilson Sr. was of Scotch-Irish descent and came to America from the north of Ireland about 1735.  He first settled in Pennsylvania, and afterwards came with others to Mecklenburg where he purchased a large body of land in the vicinity of Hopewell Church.
