James King Davidson, M.D. and president of First National Bank, Greencastle. b. Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., PA 10 Feb 1810 to James McDowell and Mary (McLaughlin) Davidson.
James McDowell Davidson, b. Antrim Twp., 4 Jan 1772 son of Elias (b.1736; to Antrim Twp. about 1760, d. 15 Apr 1806) m. 19 Mar 1771, Agnes McDowell (b.9 Sept 1740, d. 9 June 1790; daug of Maj. James McDowell). They are buried on home farm.
John McDowell Davidson m. twice. 1/Miss Maxwell of Montgomery Twsp., Franklin Co., she died leaving a family of several children; m./2 Mary McLaughlin, dau of James H. and Mary McLaughlin; 3 children: James King Davidson; Mary A.E.(d. 9 Mar 1885) and George H. Davidson (Twins). Father d. 5 Jan 1811, mother d. 28 Jan 1851, he is buried on old farm, she is buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, near Greencastle.
James King Davidson graduated from Dickenson College before age 20. Reading of medicine with Dr. John McClellan of Greencastle, graduated at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, 1833. Practiced at McConnellsburg, Bedford Co., PA for 1 yr., then west to Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN. Returned to Greencastle 1836, for 6 yrs engaged in merchandising and farming. Resumed practice of medicine in 1842.
Married 22 Nov 1836 Martha M. Robinson, of Antrim Twp., dau. of Robert Robinson. His ancestors from County Antrim, Ireland.
