According to his nephew John Alexander Windsor, [in a note on] Dec 22, 1896: "Uncle Arnold Thomas Windsor moved from near Rockville, MD in 1840 to near Lexington, Lafayette Co, Missouri and settled on a large tract of land and pursued the business of farming until the sons grew up, when they went into the mercantile business in the city of Lexington, and later into banking and became somewhat scattered, as they were in sympathy with the South." "All of Uncle Arnold T.'s children became members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South." "This branch of the Windsor family leave out the letter "d" in writing their names and write it Winsor, which we think is WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORITY inasmuch as it is an English name and has almost always been written Windsor." "A very strong tender esteem and mutual attachment existed between my father (Alexander Windsor) and Uncle Arnold T. Windsor, having been associated so intimately and for so long a time in public life together. Uncle "Arnold T." (as we called him) was Sheriff one or two terms of Montgomery Co., MD and my father at one time a constable and the rest of the term deputy sheriff under him. It was a great loss socially to father when Uncle Arnold moved to Missouri, and father often talked of going to Missouri to rejoin him, but Mother was of a different mind, and so it was never attempted." "My Uncle Arnold T. lived only a little over two years after moving there. He was thrown from a spirited young horse, his foot catching in the stirrup. He was dragged some 200 or 300 yards, and died in a few hours from the effects of it." According to Phineas Lawrence Windsor, "as an inducement to his brother Alexander to come to Missouri, Arnold T. offered to pay the expenses of moving to MO and he also guaranteed the living expenses for a year after Alexander should settle there." According to the "History of Western Maryland" by Scharf, Vol. I, Arnold was Sheriff of Montgomery Co., MD in 1816. "Montgomery County - Abstract of Wills" has Arnold witnessing the will of Martha Ricketts on February 5, 1818. Note: Arnold and family left Montgomery Co., MD in 1840 and moved to Lafayette Co., MO. They settled near the village of Greenton, MO.
