News-Register, McMinnville, Oregon, February 13, 1999

A funeral for Lillie May Gilliam of McMinnville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Valley Baptist Church, McMinnville, with the Rev. Jim Hildabrand officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.

The chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors will be open for visitation from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Gilliam died Feb. 12, 1999, in Oakwood Country Place, McMinnville. She was 104.

Born May 30, 1894, in Winnsboro, Texas, she was the daughter of Ira Franklin and Lillie Eunice Atkins Rogillio.

Her first marriage was to Ira Franklin Davidson on June 10, 1913 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They had 2 children; Horace James (b.1 Jul 1914 d.20 Mar 1939) and Frank Mendell (b.9 Apr 1916 d.16 Dec 1940). She was widowed on May 11, 1917 upon Ira Davidson's death as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Her second marriage was to Ira Thomas Gilliam on Dec. 24, 1917, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They had 4 children; Hazel Marie (b.12 Aug 1919 d.20 Jan 1980), Ralph Thomas(b.18 Mar 1921 d.17 Dec 1997), James Paul(b.3 Dec 1925 d.26 Dec 1926,) Baby (b.Mar 1932 d.Mar 1932)

The couple lived in Oklahoma, Vermont, Colorado and Missouri, where her husband worked on the railroad.

Mrs. Gilliam belonged to Happy Valley Club and Valley Baptist Church, both in McMinnville, and was a former member of First Baptist Church, Carlton. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking pies. She also liked to play cribbage.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Myrtus Gilliam of McMinnville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974; a son, Ralph, in 1997; and a daughter, Maria Chapney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Baptist Church in care of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, 135 N.E. Evans St., McMinnville, OR 97128.
