Notes |
- William Morrison was the son of William Morrison and his wife, Jane Davidson, the widow of John Davidson.
It is said that he retained British sympathies and during the Revolution worked with the Tories. In fact, he lead a Tory raiding party on the home of his half-brother Major William Davidson during the war.
Years afterward, he visited Columbia, Tennessee and bought land there and, according to tradition, met with General Samuel Williams and his wife, the former Ruth Davidson - daughter of Major William Davidson. She recognized him as her uncle Morrison, and he left and departed the country. He conveyed his land to trustees for a female school.
