  	There are some problems with this family.  According to various sources (including the Brittain genealogy), Arnold and Carrie had not been married previously when they were married in January 1908 in Buncombe county. The 1910 census backs this up (or is the source?) by noting that this was a first marriage for both and that they had been married for three years.  Carrie is listed as having four children and all were alive.  Maud, listed as age 13, Roy, as age 5, and Rachel, as age 3, were before the marriage date of 1908.  Maud is not show on the 1920 census and I assume that she has married. I suspect that Carrie had been married previously (both were almost 30 when they married), and maybe Arnold had adopted her children, formally or informally. Further, the Brittain genealogy gives her maiden name as Carrie Pressley, daughter of Jarvis Pressley.  I have not been able to find a Jarvis Pressley in the 1880 census of North Carolina, and no Carrie Pressley in any family.  I wonder if her father was Jarvis, but Pressley (by any spelling) was her name from a first marriage.  I have not found a Pressley family in 1900 Buncombe or Henderson county yet that fits her and Maud.
