Notes |
- From Mark Freeman: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~markfreeman/index.html
Though some indicate he died in 1740 in PA, others are convinced he is the husband of Sarah Gay and father-in-law of Jacob Clements. Several eminent researchers, including Margaret Campbell Pilcher and Phil Norfleet (whose web page is linked) assert that William Campbell whose will includes my ancestors - Clements - can not be linked to John Campbell and Grace Hay through any documentation they are aware of. Ms. Pilcher indicates that this William Campbell "died in Pennsylvania." I do not offer anything to refute that, but presume they are related to the same Clan and travelled at about the same time as the other Campbell families of Augusta Co., VA. In any event, this William Campbell had descendants who travelled with and intermarried with descendants of the other lines.
