Don was born July 6, 1929, in Enid to Daniel and Susie Hamen Davidson and died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his home in Ringwood.
He attended school in Ringwood and joined the Army during the 12th grade. He was honorably discharged from the Army to return home to care for his mother and family of nine siblings when his father became ill. He later received his honorary diploma from Ringwood High School. He was a member of Ringwood First Baptist Church, Ringwood Lions Club and was a Major County reserve deputy.
He married Frances Cross in 1950 in Ringwood. They had six children, Mike, Donna, Linda, Patrick, Steve and Mark.
He worked for Cummins Construction Co. and Hennessey Gas Plant. But most of his life was dedicated to working with his six brothers and one brother-in-law as Davidson Brothers Lumber and Cement Construction Co. of Ringwood. He was proud to be the eldest of the brothers as they worked together finishing concrete for many area construction companies, residential and oil field businesses.
Don was an avid fisherman and shared his love of fishing and camping with his family and friends for many years, providing loads of fish for many fish frys. He also enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals with their many friends and made many more friends.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, of the home; five children, Mike and wife Debbie of Meno, Donna Frickle and husband George of Cleo Springs, Linda Haines and husband Derral of Ringwood, Steve and wife Lisa of Enid; Mark and wife Sherry of Ringwood; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Jerry and wife Betty, Max and wife Beulah, Danny and wife Linda, Wayne and wife Millie, Boone and wife Judy; sister-in-law, Norma Davidson; four sisters, Kay Shankle, Shirley Pekrul and husband Everett, Carolyn Mays and husband Bill, Lorene Henry and husband John; and many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by son, Patrick Wayne; one brother, Ted; three half-sisters, Velta, Valdene and Velma; and one half-brother, John.
Memorials may be made to Ringwood School or Hospice Circle of Love through the funeral home.
