  	Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Opal Hubbard Johnson, age 76, of Taylorsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2005. She was born August 14, 1928, in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late Carle and Pearlie Hubbard. Mrs. Hubbard spent many years rearing her children and sharing her love of quilting and gardening. Siblings who preceded her in death are Mozelle Wallace, Edith Treadway, Elsie Childers, and Dorothy Childers. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Roger Wilson Johnson, whom she married October 29, 1949; ten children, Jerry Hubbard and wife Joyce, Dale Johnson and wife Fay, and Dwain Johnson and wife Barbara, all of Taylorsville, Ann Walker of Granite Falls, Douglas Johnson and wife Lori of Hiddenite, Carol Bingman and husband Bruce, Danny Johnson and wife Susan, and Kathy Shoemaker and husband Ronnie, all of Statesville, and Steve and Sam Johnson of the home; siblings, Willis Hubbard and Cecil Bentley, both of Taylorsville; ten grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Johnson and Rev. Robert Barnette officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Alexander Funeral Service of Taylorsville was in charge of arrangements.
