  • Notes
    • Davis Foute Eagleton's greatest work was done as a Professor of English in Austin College, where he attracted wide attention among educators as oneof the ablest instructors in the southwest.  He was given the degree of Doctor of Philosophy several years before his death, which occurred on a train as he was approaching San Antonio, Texas, seemingly in good health.
