| Notes |
- James and Margaret decided to immigrate to American in 1735. They left their daughter, Rhoda, in the care of her aunt who helped to raise her. James and Margaret boarded a 500 passenger ship. After traveling to an island in the West Indies, the captain of the ship put off the entire group and gave them a few days rations. He claimed he had to go off to a point, then he would return to the island, take them on board, and bring them to Boston. The ship sailed off with their goods and never returned. They ran out of provisions and 450 of them perished before they were found. Margaret was the only one to survive and she was pregnant with James's son. The survivors were brought to Boston. In the course of time, Margaret married a Mr. Davidson. To that union one son was born, William.
